Departing your hotel, we pass through the historic Docklands area before making our way westwards along the shoreline of the Derwent River passing many of Hobart’s economic powerhouses including mining, shipbuilding, chocolate making and vineyards.

We pass through the world acclaimed Hopfields and the historic village of New Norfolk and visit a Wildlife Park where we come face to face with Australia’s unique echidnas, koalas, wombats, wallabies and kangaroos, birds and Tasmania’s own Tassie Devil. Following this visit we enjoy afternoon tea at a park over looking the Clyde River and dairy cattle pastures in the historic village of Hamilton.

Climbing the escarpment, we visit Lake Fenton and take a delightful stroll observing the unique flora that surrounds the lake. We seek the elusive platypus swimming in the wild upper reaches of the Derwent River (conditions permitting). Then dropping down the escarpment we stop in the Mt Field National Park where we take the Tall Tree’s walk to visit the magnificent Russell Falls.

This walk concludes with a twilight buffet dinner consisting of cold local produce and local Tasmanian wine. The meal is enjoyed by an open fire place and gives the opportunity to see wallabies and possums in the wild.

We then make our way back to Hobart and drop off at your hotel.
