Spaceships are like a good car to drive with more useful features than a campervan. This means that you have the freedom, flexibility and comfort that you can drive up steep hills, on gravel roads and even park in an underground carpark with no problems and still enjoy the cooking and sleeping options of a campervan.

ALPHA 4 BERTH
All the benefits of Alpha 2 with an additional double bed on the roof. Best suited to families but can fit four adults if you don't mind being cozy.

DRIVING IN COMFORT
The Alpha 4 berth is just like driving the Alpha 2 berth except for the roof pod on the roof. This is the only rental vehicle that provides seating and sleeping for four people in a vehicle which is like a great car to drive.

You can still park and drive easily, get the fuel economy of a car and go on the ferry as a car - for $130 for the Spaceship (passengers are additional)
All Spaceships are automatic which makes them very easy and comfortable to drive.

SPACESHIP PODS - 4 BERTH OPTION
Now you can sleep four while still having the luxury of a vehicle that is great to drive and at a fraction of the cost of a big, ordinary four berth motorhome or campervan.
The new roof-top pods provide spacious sleeping facilities for two, which in turn, double the berths available in the vehicles.

As a family you will have far more fun in a Spaceship, it is also much safer than having your kids in one of big commercial-style vehicles; more economic on fuel and on the ferry crossing as it can still be booked as a car, and gives you more freedom and flexibility for your travels around New Zealand.

It is a very cost effective way for three or four people to travel in style and comfort.

Cooking and food storage
Cooking while travelling in your Spaceship is fun, easy, safe and hygienic. A quality portable cooker and a cooker stand are provided to be set up outside the Spaceship only.
The portable cooker provides flexibility around where you can cook with the cooker stand offering a great platform but you may find picnic tables another good option in certain locations.

The rear bed extension also acts as a fantastic table to prepare ad serve food from.

SELF-CHARGING BATTERY SYSTEM
A dual battery system is fitted to all Spaceships. There is one battery that starts the engine and the second battery charges the CD/MP3/DVD player, chiller and internal lights.
These batteries are connected to each other so when you drive the second battery gets re charged.

Battery life on the second battery is anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on what appliances are running. If the chiller and DVD player are running then the battery life will not last as long as if only the DVD player is going.

Having a dual battery system which self charges as you drive means you do not need a powered campsite all the time saving you money as you travel.

CD/DVD/MP3 PLAYER
A flash roof mounted 15 cm DVD screen comes standard in all 4 berth Spaceships. A separate CD/MP3 stereo is fitted with an Ipod cord.

The DVD system is a great feature offering endless opportunities to meet other Space travellers to swap DVDs and exchange travel stories. Two DVDs of your choice are available on pick up; these can be swapped at any of our Space Stations or with other Spaceships. You just have to bring back two DVDs.

SWIVEL SEAT DESIGN
Only Spaceships have a customised seating system which we call the swivel seat.

STORAGE
There is excellent, easily accessible storage in the rear and the front. The main storage compartment is accessed from the rear. There is enough space for two large soft backpacks.

When there are three or four people travelling in a four berth some additional gear can be stored in the roof pod.

The front storage compartment is a great place to keep dry food. Your cutlery and cooking equipment is also stored in this compartment. Both areas are under the bed so gear is always out of the way and easy to access.
