This 5 day package will take you along what is now one of the classic Indochina trails. After a great overnight train journey to Nong Khai, you will cross the Mekong River and stay a night in Vientiane. Explore the ancient temples and browse the Talad Sao market. Enjoy a refreshing drink whilst watching the sunset along the Mekong river! Stay a few nights in Vang Vieng, where you might want to go on a kayaking trip. The tour ends in idyllic Luang Prabang, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visa upon arrival for Laos is available at the border.

Day 1 Mon / Thu

Transfer to Hualamphong Railway Station (approximately US$8 by taxi) where you will board the night train for your train journey to Nong Khai (ticket included).
Overnight sleeper train Bangkok – Nong Khai

Day 2 Tue / Fri
Meals: None
Upon arrival at Nong Khai railway station, make your way to Friendship Bridge by tuk tuk (5 minute ride is approximately US$2). Funded by the Australian Government in 1994, the Friendship Bridge is the first bridge connecting Thailand and Laos. Upon crossing the boarder and passing through Lao immigration your driver will transfer you to your hotel in central Vientiane where you will have a free day to explore the ancient temples and browse the Talad Sao markets.

Day 3 Wed / Sat

After breakfast you will transfer to the bus station where you will travel by an air conditioned bus (public) to Van Veing which will take 3 -4 hours. Upon arrival take a local taxi to your hotel (approximately US$4).
Overnight at the Elephant Crossing or Thavonsouk Resort

Day 4 Thu / Sun
Meal: B
Free day: Vang Vieng.
For those who enjoy action and plenty of thrills, Vang Vieng has plenty to offer. Why not try kayaking, caving or trekking (this can be pre booked)! Or if you are after some relaxation you can spend the day sipping cocktails on the terrace along the river whilst meeting like minded travelers.
Overnight at The Elephant Crossing or Thavonsouk Resort

Day 5 Fri / Mon
Meal: B
After a leisurely breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel (between 09:00 and 09:30) and transferred to the bus station. Here you will board an air-conditioned bus for a scenic journey to Luang Prabang where you will arrive late in the afternoon.
