Day 1: Arrive Alice Springs
Meet your Driver/Guide and tour the sights of ‘The Alice’ including a visit to the historic Telegraph Station. At the Royal Flying Doctor Service you will see how medical aid reaches those who live in the remote outback. Enjoy a panoramic view of Alice Springs from Anzac Hill and then visit the largest Aboriginal art gallery in Australia. Mbantua Aboriginal Art Gallery and Cultural Museum is home to a large collection of Aboriginal artwork including dot paintings, symbols, Aboriginal drawings and indigenous sculpture from the Central Desert region of Australia. Tonight’s welcome dinner is a special experience in Alice Springs.
Hotel: Alice Springs Resort, Alice Springs, 2 nights. D

Day 2: Palm Valley
Travel through the West MacDonnell Ranges to Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community and historic precinct which is renowned for its Aboriginal art collection and the works of Albert Namatjira. Then travel down the bed of the Finke River, one of the oldest watercourses in the world, into Palm Valley. Walk where dinosaurs once roamed! See spectacular rock formations, white sands and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. Some plants, such as the cycad and livistona mariae (cabbage palm) are known world wide as relic plants and are unique to central Australia. Visit the spectacular rock formation known as the Amphitheatre. On the return journey relax and watch the changing colours of the West MacDonnell Ranges in the afternoon light. BL

Day 3: Kings Canyon
Travel through the diversity that is the Red Centre of Australia to Kings Canyon. Stop en route at a camel farm for an optional ride on one of these ‘ships of the desert’. This afternoon, for the energetic a guided climb to the canyon rim will be rewarded with magnificent views of Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, you may prefer to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier walk. The sheer red rock face of the canyon soars over 100 metres above lush palm forests, sheltering them from the surrounding desert conditions. The park is a conservation area whose rock holes and gorges provide refuge for over 600 species of plants and many native animals. While the Luritja Aboriginal people have called the area their home for over 20,000 years, it was little known to Europeans until recently.
Hotel: Kings Canyon Resort, Kings Canyon. BD

Day 4: Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Leaving Watarrka National Park behind we travel through to Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. You’ll be awe-struck as you glimpse sight of one of the natural wonders of the world. Uluru stands 348 metres high. This evening enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles as you watch the spectacular colours of the sunset at Uluru (Ayers Rock) and afterwards an Aussie barbecue under the stars. Upgrade to guaranteed Rock View Room $90 per person twin share for 2 nights (subject to availability).
Hotel: Desert Gardens Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort, 2 nights. BD

Day 5: Kata Tjuta (the Olgas)
Travel to Talinguru nyakunytjaku to watch sunrise at Uluru (Ayers Rock). You will be introduced to the natural and cultural landscapes of this remarkable region. Then visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre before travelling on to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. This afternoon view the massive series of domes known as Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), a unique rock formation that is sacred to the local Aboriginal people. B
